So, according to my BMI, I am 0.4 away from being overweight.

Uhm...really? To be honest, I've never really depended on BMI to determine my ideal weight or body image. I just found this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/77367764@N00/sets/72157602199008819/detail/ on vaginapagina (here's a slide show: http://kateharding.net/bmi-illustrated/) and I think it does a really good job of showing how inaccurate BMI really is, as was said in the community.

I have gained some weight this winter. But honestly, who hasn't? You've got Thanksgiving, then Christmas (or Hanukkah), the New Years..it's a very celebratory time of year! And I love it! :) Plus, it's very cold and windy, and sometimes snowy and icey, and not many people want to go outside. So, to me, it's very understandable that someone would gain weight this time of year.

I am 5'5 and weight 148 lbs., and I feel that I am far from being overweight. I look at myself in the mirror and I look...normal. In fact, I think I look pretty good. :)

So I have to ask, why are people still using BMI? I don't think it's accurate, and I think it leads to a lot of people being misled and causes some people's self-esteem to be lowered.

What do you think?

Haha, pile of wank...I like that!

Yeah, I agree that they should get rid of it. Or, if they don't want to do that, then they should at least update it to include muscle mass and such.

At the end of the day, if you feel good at your height and weight then life is good and ignoring silly numbers a very good option :)

Best advice I've heard about it. :)
